I noticed that now the newer version of the canopus codecs works without the edius dongle. On the site they are 'available for free download' (separate package), but they do not specify entirely if its is now 100% free. Just need to register to download.
Now also, they have the HQ and HQX for quicktime. Grass Valley Codecs Pack for Windows 7 (v6.51) working fine, advanced the pc date (maybe was trial.), still working if true, would be amazing, a great quality free intermediate codec (fast than DNxHD), with x64 version, VFW, directshow and quicktime component. I can confirm the color shift identified by wwagg's in an earlier post when using the canopus codec within Vegas. Starting from Vegas (m2t) and rendering out to cineform.avi and canopusHQ.avi and then opening onto an Edius timeline showed no color shift using the vectorscope within edius. Timeline performances were indistinguishable. Staying with Vegas I would continue to use cineform.
I tested Debugmode frameserve with varios encoders, modes, mwthods, and the results where 'unstable'. Some videos where missing frames, other encoders audio was out of sync. Writing signpost PCM in the frameserve helped some, bugged others. So, exporting in DNxHD to open directly, or other intermediate codec like Cineform HD and use other methods are more recommended.
